"At each ordinary session of the Council, a Nominating Committee shall be appointed consisting of seven members, not more than three of whom, including the Past President, shall be members of the concurrent Executive Committee. The Chairman of the Committee shall be appointed by the Council. The Committee for Publications shall review the publication policy of the Union and of its Commissions giving particular attention to the IUGS journal Episodes; shall examine all applications to the Executive Committee for funds involving publication, and advise on publication standards, methods and techniques in the presentation of geological results.
