ICS is IUGS’ largest and oldest constituent scientific body. Its primary objective is to define global units of the International Chronostratigraphic Chart that are the basis for the units (periods, epochs, age) of the International Geologic Time Scale.
IUGS-GC was established by the IUGS Executive Council in 2023. The CG will be the supporting branch of the IAPG to the IUGS and will deal with geoethics and social geosciences for the Union, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
COGE’s primary goal is to actively collaborate with other Commissions, organizations, and networks at all scales to develop activities and resources to support geoscience education across the globe.
ICG collaborates and seeks partnerships with other commissions, organisations and networks at all scales (local, regional, and international) which are active within the field of Geoheritage and related disciplines to achieve its aims.
INHIGEO’s aim is not only the historical study of geological sciences, but also its promotion, dissemination and the creation of effective links between this historical knowledge and the broader context of the Earth sciences and humanities.
CGI’s mission is to foster the interoperability and exchange of geoscience information, by active community leadership, collaboration, education, and the development and promotion of geoscience information standards and best practice.
CGGB’s long-term goal is establishing a global geochemical database, and from this a baseline, to document the concentration and distribution of chemical elements and species in the Earth’s near-surface environment.
TecTask represents Earth Scientists involved in structural geology and tectonics. Its aims are to increase communication and coordination within the global community and to provide free-to-access resources and information to the public.
