The most recent International Geological Congress, the 37th IGC, took place in Busan, South Korea in 2024.

Successful post-covid global geoscience congress: Participation of 6,003 experts from 99 countries in geology-related academia and specialized fields

Adoption of the 'Busan Declaration': Commitment to cooperation in addressing global environmental changes and future crises including proposal for establishing the "Global Future Geoscience Research Center" centered in Busan

Raising Awareness of Global Environmental Changes: Dissemination of key messages through world-renowned scholars, international organizations, keynote speeches, presentations, and exhibitions and extensive media coverage emphasized the significance of geology, increasing public awareness and engagement
