Adhering Members
The IUGS Adhering Members are typically peak professional or government bodies such as Geological Societies, National Academies of Sciences, National Geoscience Committees, National Research Foundations, Geological Surveys or Ministries. The Adhering Members hold the proper authority from those individual countries or defined geographical regions. Active Adhering Members are represented by their nominated delegates that form the IUGS Council, which is the Union's governing body.
